A vibrant group of Hollywood seniors welcomed Instant Runoff Voting (IRV) with open arms. Gautam Dutta, Amanda Fowler and Priya Kumar of New American Foundation led a wide-ranging discussion of how best to reform our political system.

The members of Sunset Hall’s Progressive Forum displayed extensive political knowledge – touching on issues ranging from political apathy to divisions based on race, class and gender.

New America Foundation intern Amanda Fowler said, "I was impressed by the forum's knowledge." New America intern Priya Kumar added, "It's nice to witness a group of individuals who actually care and are educating themselves about the issues."

Sunset Hall's members take pride in their activism. Progressive Forum chair and radio personality Arianna Manov strongly supported IRV. She announced that the committee would write letters of support to the Los Angeles City Council.

"We thank Sunset Hall and its Executive Director Wendy Caputo for inviting us to their meeting," Gautam Dutta of New America Foundation said. "We look forward to working with them in the weeks to come," he added.

Sunset Hall is "a nonprofit program for free thinking elders who continue to share independence of spirit and involvement in the world." The organization strives to ensure that all of its members remain both culturally and politically active.
